RCM Billing & Collections Specialist

Full-time position based in Alton, Illinois.

About the role

The primary purpose of this position is to create claims invoices for commercial products to third-party insurance carriers and monitor aging to ensure proper and timely payment.

Responsibilities

• Correct claim data in the Acuity Logic system prior to billing for specified plans.
• Submit both paper and electronic claims in Acuity Logic for specified plans to third-party carriers in a timely manner.
• Submit manual vouchers and invoices to plans that do not accept claim forms.
• Maintain and report personal KPI data to the Manager on a weekly basis.
• Interpret and follow up on claim denials from third-party carriers for specified plans.
• Monitor the aging of specified plans to ensure prompt and accurate payment.
• Develop expertise in specific plans assigned to the position and act as a department and company resource for billing-related questions.
• Assist the AR Manager and Commercial Claim Supervisor on special projects as needed.
• Communicate all system, site, and billing company issues to the AR Manager in a timely manner to allow management oversight and proper resource planning.
• Serve as a resource for retail units regarding billing questions.
• Make recommendations for efficiencies, processes, etc., to deliver quality, cost savings, and profitability improvements within the department or across the organization.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
• 1 year of accounts receivable (AR) experience with third-party billing.
• Knowledge of insurance billing processes.
• Entry-level PC skills in MS Windows, Word, and Excel.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with coworkers and prepare concise, accurate reports.
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment.
