Summary of Position
Affords residents support in performing activities of daily living, adhering to individualized plans of care. Encourages independence while maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment. Monitors residents for changes in their physical or emotional state and promptly reports findings.
Essential Job Functions
- Understands and follows written and verbal instructions.
- Communicates effectively with residents, families, colleagues, and administration.
- Maintains good public relations and respects residents' rights, dignity, and individuality.
- Assists residents with morning meals as directed.
- Performs ADLs such as bathing, grooming, dressing, oral care, toileting, transfers, and mobility.
- Provides care in accordance with the plan of care and physician's orders.
- Observes residents for changes in their physical or emotional state and reports promptly.
- Completes required documentation and maintains confidentiality.
- Reports relevant information to supervisor, including skin condition, compliance issues, resident risk factors, changes of condition, incidents, complaints, and unexplained injuries.
- Attends required training programs and applies learned information to job duties.
- Provides on-the-job orientation to new employees.
- Maintains safety and hygiene standards, reports hazards, and participates in emergency drills.
- Utilizes appropriate body mechanics, infection control procedures, and personal protective equipment.
- Performs first aid as necessary.
- Works independently and collaboratively, displays patience, understanding, and compassion.
- Adheres to safety protocols and maintains a well-groomed appearance.
- Works flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Displays strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Communicates effectively and demonstrates excellent customer service.
- Uses Microsoft Office proficiently.
Qualifications
- Age 18 or older.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting or working with the elderly population preferred.
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
- Background clearance through the Department of Social Services.
- Desire to work with the elderly.
- Good physical and mental health.
- Professional appearance.
- Good judgment and common sense.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Effective use of interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Fluent in English.
- Fluency in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) preferred.
- Fluency in other languages an asset.
