RCDD Technology Engineer

About the role
Seeking an RCDD Technology Engineer to join our team in Washington, DC. This role serves as a trusted advisor to clients, leading technology consulting efforts while supporting business development, proposal preparation, project execution, and team mentorship. The position requires a minimum of two days per week in the office, with additional in-office attendance as needed for meetings, site visits, client engagements, and events. Travel between offices may also be necessary.
Responsibilities
- Project Leadership & Client Management
- Lead technology design projects from initial concept through construction administration and project closeout.
- Manage project scope, schedules, deliverables, and additional service requests.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and other project stakeholders to deliver integrated technology solutions.
- Review subconsultant work products and support project financial performance.
- Assign, monitor, and coordinate project tasks among team members.
- Participate in client meetings and prepare technical deliverables requiring advanced expertise.
- Maintain project documentation, including meeting minutes, field reports, and project records.
- Support invoicing activities and assist with accounts receivable follow-up as needed.
- Technology Design & Production
- Develop and oversee technology system designs for AV, ICT, and security systems.
- Conduct site assessments, system testing, commissioning activities, and field investigations.
- Prepare reports, design narratives, specifications, studies, drawing markups, and other technical documentation.
- Perform engineering evaluations, feasibility studies, and technology integration analyses.
- Assist with production efforts during periods of increased project demand.
- Develop presentation materials and project outlines for client meetings.
- Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure accuracy and consistency of design documents.
- Verify compliance with applicable codes, project requirements, and firm standards.
- Support project teams with constructability reviews, budget considerations, and implementation strategies.
- Technical Leadership
- Serve as a subject matter expert for AV, ICT, and security system design.
- Review and guide technical work performed by project teams.
- Stay informed of emerging technologies, industry trends, codes, and best practices.
- Apply innovative solutions to project challenges and technology requirements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with manufacturers, vendors, and technology partners.
- Contribute to the development of firm standards, design tools, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Business Development & Marketing
- Identify and pursue new client relationships and project opportunities.
- Develop proposals, scopes of work, and fee estimates.
- Participate in client presentations, industry conferences, networking functions, and business development activities.
- Represent the firm at client meetings and professional events.
- Team Development & Organizational Support
- Mentor, coach, and support the professional growth of team members.
- Assist with onboarding, technical training, and performance feedback for junior staff.
- Participate in initiatives that improve technical excellence and operational effectiveness.
- Promote knowledge sharing and collaboration across the organization.
- Participate in internal training and professional development programs.
- Support recruiting efforts by interviewing candidates and providing hiring recommendations.
- Attend team functions, client events, and company-sponsored activities as needed.
- Complete timesheets, expense reports, and other administrative requirements accurately and on schedule.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience within the AEC industry.
- Minimum of eight years of technology consulting experience involving AV, ICT, and/or security systems.
- BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification required or ability to obtain certification within one year of hire.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of BIM workflows, network infrastructure, and system integration methodologies.
- Experience developing technical specifications, preferably within CSI Division 27 and Division 28.
- Demonstrated project management and client relationship leadership experience.
- Proven success in business development and securing new project opportunities.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.

Pay
$140,000 - $190,000 per year
Schedule
Hybrid schedule with a minimum of two days per week in the office. Additional in-office attendance may be required for meetings, site visits, client engagements, and events.
