RBL 75 Laboratory Research Technician

Responsibilities

• Determines experimental protocols and prepares specimens and cultures.
• Compiles and analyzes findings and prepares reports.
• Oversees specimen inventory.
• Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.
• Performs research procedures (bench and animal) in Biosafety Level 2 and 3 (BSL2/BSL3) environments.
• Carries out tasks such as viral plaque assays, real-time PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, media preparation, cell culture, record keeping, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment.
• Works with small laboratory animals, such as rodents, and may include other species.
• Requires basic understanding of statistical methods and Microsoft Excel.
• Needs good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must adhere strictly to BSL2/BSL3 procedures.
• May require some scheduling flexibility for animal observations.
• Might require a yellow fever vaccination.
• May require a Department of Justice security clearance for work with Select Agents and Toxins.

Qualifications
