Position Summary
Reporting to the Sourcing Manager - Chemicals, the Raw Materials Specialist manages all phases of the purchasing operation of raw materials for Twin Rivers Paper Company.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively supports and promotes safe work practices throughout the mill by being present at safety activities and personally encouraging safe behaviors.
- Keeps abreast of modern purchasing practices and techniques and directs staff in the development of modern purchasing and inventory management techniques.
- Affixes with contracts and purchase agreements.
- Manages bulk raw material inventories and orders accordingly.
- Manages material flow to ensure inventory is maintained at the optimum level to support on time customer deliveries while keeping inventory holdings at the appropriate levels.
- Participates in month end closing as well as yearend.
- Collaborates with transportation department for pick-ups.
- Communicates with operators in the color prep and beater rooms.
- Helps with the development of the annual budget, tracks performance, identifies and implements opportunities to improve cost performance.
- Attends and supports the daily mill production meeting and participates in other meetings such as safety, contractor performance, business review, project scheduling, budget review and staff meetings as required.
- Reports problems with the food safety management system to identified person(s).
- Has an awareness of the Food Safety Policy, GMP’s, HACCP principles and Food Safety Standard.
Required Qualifications
- College degree, preferably in Chemical Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Procurement or paper mill operations
- Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook proficiency
