Overview
The Raw Materials Planning Manager is a highly analytical and strategic role that manages the end-to-end lifecycle of fabric and raw material procurement.
Responsibilities
- Sources and procures fabrics and raw materials aligned with product and production needs.
- Manages relationships with domestic and offshore mills, ensuring quality, reliability, and scalability.
- Negotiates pricing, capacity, lead times, and MOQs to support margin and production goals.
- Pairs with product development and technical teams on fabric approvals and performance standards.
- Develops and manages raw material forecasts based on demand plans, sales trends, and production schedules.
- Owns fabric capacity planning with mills to support both replenishment and new production needs and minimize stockouts.
- Maintains inventory levels, aging stock, and excess/obsolete materials.
- Aligns material planning with production schedules and capacity constraints.
- Issues and tracks purchase orders, ensuring on-time delivery of materials.
- Partners closely with production, planning, and logistics teams to align material flow with factory schedules.
- Drives replenishment strategies for high-volume basics (e.g., jersey, fleece, rib).
- Identifies and mitigates supply chain risks (delays, shortages, quality issues).
- Analyzes fabric consumption, usage trends, and cost drivers.
- Tracks KPIs such as on-time delivery, inventory turns, and material cost variance.
- Provides recommendations to optimize sourcing strategies and inventory efficiency.
- Maintains accurate data in ERP/PLM systems for materials, orders, and inventory.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 4-6 years of experience in fabric sourcing, raw materials planning, or apparel supply chain roles, or equivalent education.
- Experience in apparel or activewear manufacturing is preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP/PLM systems (e.g., FDM4, Anaplan, Centric, etc.) is preferred.
- Knowledge of global sourcing and logistics timelines is preferred.
- Strong understanding of textile construction, lead times, and sourcing processes.
- Experience managing high-volume replenishment programs.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management experience.

- Bonus: Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus up to 10% of base salary.
