About the role

The Raw Materials Planning Manager is a highly analytical and strategic role that manages the end-to-end lifecycle of fabric and raw material procurement. This role is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted material flow, from mill to production, by balancing demand forecasting, inventory management, and supplier partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Source and procure fabrics and raw materials aligned with product and production needs.
  • Manage relationships with domestic and offshore mills, ensuring quality, reliability, and scalability.
  • Negotiate pricing, capacity, lead times, and MOQs to support margin and production goals.
  • Partner with product development and technical teams on fabric approvals and performance standards.
  • Develop and manage raw material forecasts based on demand plans, sales trends, and production schedules.
  • Own fabric capacity planning with mills to support both replenishment and new production needs and minimize stockouts.
  • Monitor inventory levels, aging stock, and excess/obsolete materials.
  • Align material planning with production schedules and capacity constraints.
  • Issue and track purchase orders, ensuring on-time delivery of materials.
  • Partner closely with production, planning, and logistics teams to align material flow with factory schedules.
  • Drive replenishment strategies for high-volume basics (e.g., jersey, fleece, rib).
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks (delays, shortages, quality issues).
  • Analyze fabric consumption, usage trends, and cost drivers.
  • Track KPIs such as on-time delivery, inventory turns, and material cost variance.
  • Provide recommendations to optimize sourcing strategies and inventory efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate data in ERP/PLM systems for materials, orders, and inventory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of experience in fabric sourcing, raw materials planning, or apparel supply chain roles, or equivalent education
  • Experience in apparel or activewear manufacturing is preferred
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP/PLM systems (e.g., FDM4, Anaplan, Centric, etc.) is preferred
  • Knowledge of global sourcing and logistics timelines is preferred
  • Strong understanding of textile construction, lead times, and sourcing processes
  • Experience managing high-volume replenishment programs
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management experience

Pay

Salary Range: $84,179 - $120,750 annually, depending on experience. You’ll be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus up to 10% of base salary.

Schedule

  • Onsite Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM PST
  • Periodic travel may be required
  • Paid time off accrued bi-weekly based on hours worked, up to 112 hours per year to start
  • 8 paid holidays and 1 paid family day off

Location & Work Environment

Bella + Canvas' office is located in Montebello, CA in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods while working on a computer and participating in virtual and in-person meetings. Frequent use of hands for keyboarding and standard office equipment is required. Occasional standing, walking, and reaching may be needed to attend meetings or collaborate in an office setting. The role requires the ability to perform close visual work on a computer for extended periods. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10–15 pounds.
