About the Role
Sonaca North America is seeking a Raw Materials Handler-Warehouse Worker responsible for performing cycle counts of all inventory, shipping, receiving, delivery, and daily inventory departmental activities. This position also supports all aspects of production operations while adhering to the company’s Quality Policy, Mission Statement, and commitment to total customer satisfaction, quality products, lean processes, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, safety, teamwork, and respect for people.
Responsibilities
- Perform cycle counts, shipping, receiving, delivery, and inventory daily departmental activities following all applicable standard procedures (SP’s), quality assurance procedures (QAP’s), and safety regulations.
- Load and unload trucks using fork trucks, pallet jacks, and/or hand trucks while adhering to safety protocols.
- Unpack crates and boxes, verify items for accuracy and damage, and document discrepancies.
- Place receipts "on-hold" for incorrect, defective, or incomplete parts and follow up with the appropriate Sonaca North America plant or vendor to resolve issues.
- Accurately process system transactions related to shipping, receiving, and bin transfers.
- Assist production operations by delivering materials to the shop in a timely manner.
- Maintain shipping and receiving files and process customer returns per QAP/SP.
- Monitor and revise the weekly I50 report.
- Perform Lean and 6S functions in your work area daily.
- Assist in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions for errors or issues.
- Drive a delivery truck to and from customer sites, ensuring proper tracking of paperwork and on-time deliveries while following safety and quality standards.
- Participate in ergonomic exercises and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency preferred; candidates without a diploma may be required to take a pre-employment assessment.
- One to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to acquire a Sonaca North America Forklift License and maintain a valid driver’s license with no major traffic violations in the previous three years.
- Excellent background and ability to be issued security clearance for customer delivery sites, including GAC access badges.
- Working knowledge of database software, internet software, spreadsheet software, and Outlook; AS400 experience is a plus.
- Ability to perform cycle counts, material handling tasks, and production tasks requiring physical strength and dexterity.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders and drawings to produce and assemble kits accurately.
- Proficiency in operating fork trucks, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Strong organizational skills and discipline to maintain systems and keep work areas clean.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities and high-stress periods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with employees, customers, and vendors.
- 10% local travel required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Exposure to noise levels ranging from quiet to extremely loud.
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including eye, ear, and foot protection when working on the manufacturing floor.
- May occasionally lift and/or move up to 10-50 pounds.
