Rate Analyst-Sr. Rate Analyst

Responsibilities

• Prepares rate-related filings in jurisdictions to advocate the company's position on accounting, ratemaking, gas cost, cost allocation issues, and other regulatory matters, and to comply with orders from regulatory authorities and current tariffs.
• Prepares and reviews analytical exhibits for rate filings and testimony submitted by company witnesses.
• Develops analytical exhibits to support responses to intervener data requests.
• Coordinates and organizes information flow between internal departments to provide timely responses to rate case interveners.
• Develops financial and statistical models to improve departmental efficiency and accuracy in rate filings.
• Reviews and analyzes billing information to determine its accuracy and usefulness in regulatory proceedings.
• Prepares and files compliance reports as required by regulatory bodies.
• Monitors rates charged by other jurisdictions to provide a basis for comparison.
• Analyzes and evaluates financial and billing data, calculating pro forma adjustments to deficiency studies for rate case purposes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and two years of related experience; or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate with internal and external customers to explain or modify technical or complex concepts.
• Proficiency in performing algebraic operations, statistical methods, and applying high-level accounting methods for financial reporting.
• Advanced knowledge of software applications for creating complex documents, databases, reports, and graphics.

Work Conditions

• Office environment.
• Minimal overnight travel may be required.
• Occasional activities including bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning, and lifting.
