Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- 3 years recent clinical experience as a RN in Adult Critical Care or Emergency Department.
Skills & Abilities
- Trauma Nursing Core Course—Completion within 90 days of hire.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support—ACLS Required within 90 days of hire.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support—PALS Required within 1 year of hire.
Responsibilities
- Responds to Rapid Response Team calls, including Code Blue, S.T.A.T., Trauma, and Massive Transfusion Protocol.
- Completes post S.T.A.T. Event follow-up and documentation.
- Facilitates debriefings/critiques of Code Blue events.
- Reviews medical records of restrained patients daily to ensure standards of care are met.
- Communicates with charge nurses daily to identify high-risk patients.
- Uses critical thinking and assessment skills to assist with emergency/urgent patient care needs.
- Performs ongoing and systematic assessment/data collection focusing on physiological and cognitive status.
- Formulates a prioritized and goal-directed plan of care based on patient’s presenting problems and projected outcomes.
- Implements care in a knowledge, skillful, consistent manner, promoting the continuum of care.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of the health care process (self, systems, environment, and instrumentation) as related to meeting patient outcomes.
- Documents in patient and department records in a timely, accurate, and concise manner according to the department standards.
- Delegates tasks and duties in the direction and coordination of health care team members, patient care, and department activities in accordance with the Kansas State Nurse Practice Act.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse - KSBN Required.
- Acute/Critical Care Nursing (Adult)—AACN—Magnet Or other relevant certifications.
