Range Safety Officer.
Duties
Works jointly with the Installation Range Officer and Range Operations Officer in the planning, development, and execution of safety programs.
Manages the Range Safety Program.
Ensures that installation range safety requirements are adhered to in the scheduling of range use, maintenance, modification, and installation of ranges, and use of training facilities.
Advises Commanders and Unit Training Officers on current and anticipated future policies, objectives, and programs as they pertain to range facility operations.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Incumbent is required to regularly enter the Installation Live-Fire Impact Area in the performance of assigned duties.
Performs duties on an irregular tour of duty subject to intermittent 24-hour/seven day scheduling of work activities in order to conform to Range Training Schedules and construction and refurbishment activities.
Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain Level 2 DA Range Safety Certification.
Position requires a valid, State-issued motor vehicle driver's license.
Position requires a pre-employment physical and annually thereafter.
This position has been designated as Mission Essential.
Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance Level.
This is a term appointment.

Additional information about transcripts is Specialize Experience: Have one year of specialized experience which includes the following.
knowledge of range safety regulations, and the experience to plan, develop and execute the programs, policies and procedures involved in the safe operation of live fire ranges and training areas.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Pay
Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.
Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 5 years by a current permanent Army employee.
Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years.
Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted.
Position may be made permanent without further competition.
Permanent change of station (PCS) costs may be authorized.
Recruitment and relocation incentives may be authorized.
Student loan repayment my be authorized.
Salary negotiations for those candidates who are new to Federal service may be authorized.
Credit for Prior Non-Federal Work Experience and Certain Military Service for Determining Annual Leave Accrual Rate may be authorized.
