Range Master/Firearms Instructor (RMFI) - WPS III (Iraq)

About the role

The Department of State (DOS) – Secret clearance level is seeking a range manager to support Department of State Worldwide Protective Services III (WPS III) Task Orders (TO) in austere environments. The primary function involves managing the firing range, supervising weapons requalification training, and planning, coordinating, and conducting such training.

Responsibilities

• Manage the firing range and supervise weapons requalification training in overseas locations.
• Plan, coordinate, and conduct weapons requalification training.
• Ensure that all equipment, weapons, ammunition, and materials are on hand for training.
• Perform administrative tasks necessary to support range operations.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must have at least three (3) years’ experience as a range master, earned as part of other federal, state, or local government training assignments.
• Must possess formal certification as a firearms instructor.
• Must attend and successfully complete a supervisory course.
• Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
• Must have a valid U.S. Passport with no less than 6 months remaining before expiration.
• Must be proficient in the ability to speak, write, and communicate in English.

Qualifications

Training (Paid Training)

• Attend and successfully complete the DOS Non-Protective Security Specialist Basic and Basic Field Firearms Officer’s courses.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions

• Must be approved for a Department of State Medical Clearance.
• Must be able to do the following: walk, squat, crawl, run, quickly enter/exit vehicles, maneuver around obstacles, carry heavy equipment and personnel, and operate mission‑essential issued equipment requiring dexterity.
• Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods with minimal breaks.
• Must possess no medical or physical impediments to traveling overseas to and within countries considered dangerous or unhealthy.
