Responsibilities
- Train and/or evaluate student drivers to ensure they possess the skills needed to become licensed commercial drivers.
- Administer CDL exams if certified as a State CDL Examiner.
- Train student drivers on performing safety inspections for potential truck/trailer issues.
- Instruct functional driving skills, including turns, curves, backing, and more.
- Evaluate student drivers daily to determine readiness to progress from range to road.
- Ensure student drivers can handle upgrades, downgrades, starting/stopping, intersections, urban/rural sections, expressways, and bridge underpasses.
- Resolve student issues effectively and efficiently.
- Proactively assist others in achieving the organization’s objectives.
Requirements
- 2+ years of OTR experience (unless state law requires additional years).
- Previous experience as a third-party tester or CVTA Master Level Instructor preferred.
- Must qualify as a Class A CDL driver by meeting all company hiring requirements.
- Must have appropriate state certification as a CDL Examiner if tasked with administering exams.
- Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
- Ability to handle changing priorities.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Self-motivated.
- Engage in ongoing education relating to teaching skills to maintain post-secondary education requirements.
- Maintain Professional Truck Driver Institute (PTDI) and Commercial Vehicle Training Association (CVTA) standards.
- Complete a minimum of two American Association for Vocational School modules annually.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree preferred).
- Must obtain additional endorsements within 90 days of notification, if required.

Pay
$60,000+ based on experience.
