RAN Virtualization OA&M Engineer
This is a contract opportunity for a RAN Virtualization OA&M Engineer based in Plano, TX, supporting a leading wireless telecommunications environment.
About the role
The position focuses on virtualized/cloud-native telecom infrastructure, automation, scripting, Kubernetes, containerization, and network troubleshooting. The engineer will support complex 4G/5G network systems and collaborate with technical teams responsible for network management and virtualization. The hiring team is particularly interested in someone with strong scripting and automation capabilities who can automate operational and engineering activities.

Responsibilities
You will work on automation, virtualization, cloud infrastructure, and troubleshooting within telecom network environments, including:
- Supporting EMS/NMS applications
- Analyzing faults and logs
- Assisting with root-cause analysis
- Collaborating with cross-functional engineering and R&D teams
- Supporting the introduction and troubleshooting of 4G/5G RAN network-management features and virtualized network technologies
Requirements
- 6–7+ years of related technical experience preferred
- Strong scripting and automation experience
- Python, Bash and/or Shell scripting
- Virtualization experience with VMware, KVM, hypervisors, and virtual machines
- Kubernetes, Docker, and containerization
- Cloud infrastructure/cloud-native application experience
- Strong troubleshooting and log-analysis capabilities
- Understanding of telecom infrastructure and 4G/5G architecture
- Knowledge of CU/DU nodes and cloud-native telecom environments
- Unix/Linux experience
- Network troubleshooting, fault management, and alarm analysis
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in EE, CS, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred
- Wireless telecom/OEM experience (desired)
- Carrier network experience is a plus
- OAMP/FCAPS knowledge (desired)
- OSS/EMS/NMS and RAN network-element experience (desired)
- Network Function Virtualization (NFV) (desired)
- OpenStack (desired)
- SNMP, NETCONF, YANG, and REST APIs (desired)
- Automation/orchestration frameworks (desired)
- Experience working in telecom vendor environments (desired)
