Ramsey County Jail Screening Specialist 3rd Shift

About the role

The 3rd Shift Jail Screening Specialist (9pm-7am) is responsible for conducting interviews and assessments of inmates in the Ramsey County Adult Detention Center.

Responsibilities

• Provides a detailed and objective report to the Court, Prosecution, and Defense, including the defendant’s assessed risk level and recommendations related to release conditions.
• May assist in the process of releasing individuals from custody to pretrial supervision.
• May assist in providing a more in-depth assessment to identify individuals who may be eligible for a Diversion agreement.
• Staff will also assist with Release Preparation.
• Staff will be granted Delegated Release Authority.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Social Work, Psychology, or related human services field.
• Pre-employment background check conducted by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
• Valid Minnesota or Wisconsin driver’s license and automobile with insurance required.
• Obtain Certified Pretrial Services Professional certification within six months of employment.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Spanish/Somali/Hmong (spoken and written) is preferred.
• Experience working with criminal justice involved clients preferred.

Skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Ability to communicate professionally and accurately, both orally and written
• Organized, attentive to detail, ability to multi-task, work independently
• Ability to work well with individuals from diverse economic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
