Railcar Prep & Inspection Technician – Montgomery, AL Location: Montgomery, Alabama Employment Type: Full-Time Pay: Based on Experience Build Your Career in the Rail Industry Road & Rail Services is seeking a reliable, safety-minded team member for our Montgomery operation. As a Railcar Prep & Inspection Technician, you will examine, clean, and prepare railcars for service. You may also perform authorized minor repairs using stick welding. This active, hands-on position is performed primarily outdoors around rail equipment. It is a good fit for someone who enjoys physical work, takes pride in doing the job correctly, and can stay productive in a fast-moving industrial environment. Your Responsibilities You will help ensure railcars are clean, properly inspected, and prepared for transportation. Daily duties may include: Examining railcars for visible damage, excessive wear, and signs of fatigue Operating railcar end doors safely Clearing dirt, debris, and other materials with backpack blowers and scraping equipment Identifying repair needs that fall within the company's approved scope of work Completing authorized minor repairs using stick-welding techniques Caring for assigned tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment Maintaining an orderly and hazard-free work area Following all Road & Rail Services, customer, and industry safety requirements What You'll Need The ideal candidate is dependable, attentive to detail, and committed to working safely. You should be comfortable completing physical tasks outside in varying weather conditions and working as part of a team. Minimum Qualifications Include Previous stick-welding experienceFamiliarity with common hand and power toolsAbility to understand and follow work instructionsWillingness to work outdoors throughout the yearConsistent, dependable attendanceStrong commitment to safety and quality Experience in rail operations, industrial maintenance, manufacturing, construction, or another hands-on labor environment is preferred but not required.
