Railcar Mover Resident Field Technician / Mechanic
Job Summary
Foley Equipment is the authorized Caterpillar & Shuttlewagon dealer in Kansas, Colorado, and northwest Missouri. As a Railcar Mover Resident Field Technician, you will provide on-site troubleshooting, service, and repair of railcar movers directly at your customers' work locations. This position operates as a Field Technician based in eastern or southeastern Colorado, supporting customers throughout the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform repair and preventive maintenance on railcar moving equipment and evaluate for other preventative maintenance items.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, give recommendations for repairs, and make all critical repairs and adjustments.
- Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments.
- Occasionally troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers on their repairs.
- Develop and maintain long-lasting working relationships with customers.
- Willingness to work overtime as required by fluctuating workloads and availability for after-hours calls.
- Travel is required for training and/or to assist at other locations.
Physical & Working Requirements
- Safely and repeatedly lift components weighing up to 115 pounds without assistance.
- Safely lift, carry, and lower components weighing up to 65 pounds without assistance.
- Frequent pushing, pulling, and carrying of heavy materials.
- Climb on and off equipment and work at varying heights.
- Stand, bend, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods.
- Safely operate tools and equipment.
Qualifications
- Basic mechanical knowledge including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulics.
- General knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools, and instruments.
- Ability to read and comprehend specifications, service, and parts literature, technical bulletins, and other related publications.
- Experience working within the diesel mechanics industry.
- Railcar mover maintenance and repair experience (Shuttlewagon preferred).
- Understanding of crane hoist and rigging equipment (preferred).
- Stable work history.
- Valid Class A CDL.
