About the role

AECOM is actively seeking a talented Rail/Track Engineer - Civil for employment within the New England region. Here you will have the opportunity to work side by side with career rail professionals throughout the US, delivering projects for transit clients with a focus on commuter, freight, short-line and class one rail.

Responsibilities

  • Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise
  • Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others
  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables
  • Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects
  • Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package
  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings
  • Prepares technical specification sections
  • Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements
  • Preparation of design documents
  • Development of specifications, cost estimates and project schedules
  • Preparation of technical reports and analyses
  • Development of estimates for the track engineering budgets
  • Aids in determining schedules to perform track work
  • Coordination with multiple departments related to a projects scope of work
  • Performing field track inspections and developing criteria and testing requirements
  • Coordination and providing technical expertise for mid-large size projects
  • Providing specialized technical input to studies and design for specific area of expertise
  • Reviewing and approving track designs prepared by others
  • Overseeing and managing work within the ROW for multiple projects
  • Mentoring staff

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Civil or Structural Engineering or related +6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Experience with commuter, shortline, freight, transit, and class-one rail projects
  • Professional Engineer (PE), MA License
  • Expertise with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRail/Power Rail, Microstation
  • Knowledge of FRA, DOT, AREMA and local railroad/transit criteria
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Good client relations experience
  • Ability to lead meetings related to track
  • Local to Massachusetts

Additional Information

Relocation assistance is not available for this role. Sponsorship is not for this role, now or in the future. Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $120,000.00 - $225,000.00 per year.
