Responsibilities

  • Serves as a senior technical resource for the team.
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for specific areas of expertise.
  • Develops study and design procedures to ensure high-quality, cost-effective work by others.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
  • Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
  • Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline components of PS&E packages.
  • Performs quality control reviews of design calculations or drawings.
  • Provides input to the development of engineering budgets and schedules to meet requirements.
  • Performs civil design on a variety of rail/transit projects.
  • Prepares design documents, specifications, cost estimates, and project schedules.
  • Prepares technical reports and analyses.
  • Develops estimates for track engineering budgets.
  • Aids in determining schedules for performing track work.
  • Coordinates with multiple departments related to a project's scope of work.
  • Performs procurement specifications.
  • Conducts field track inspections and develops criteria and testing requirements.
  • Coordinates and provides technical expertise for mid-to-large size projects.
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for specific areas of expertise.
  • Reviews and approves track designs prepared by others.
  • Oversees and manages work within the right-of-way for multiple projects.
  • Mentors staff members.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Civil or Structural Engineering or related field with 6+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineer (PE), MA License preferred.
  • Expertise with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRail/Power Rail, Microstation.
  • Knowledge of FRA, DOT, AREMA and local railroad/transit criteria.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Good client relations experience.
  • Ability to lead meetings related to track.
  • Local to Massachusetts.
