About the role
Rail Terminal Services is hiring for a Hostler Driver / Groundperson position at their BNSF Spokane, WA Rail Terminal. This entry-level role offers full on-the-job training and combines Hostler Driver and Ground Person duties.
Responsibilities
- Drive a jockey truck, moving 53ft trailers, containers, and chassis around the rail yard.
- Get hands-on with ground duties such as climbing railcars, securing tracks, and handling connectors.
- Team up with crane operators, guiding them with hand signals to load and unload equipment.
- Stack and unstack chassis, plus load/unload racks—every day's a little different!
- Pitch in wherever needed in a fun, team-focused environment.
Requirements
- Must be 18+ with a valid driver’s license (no CDL needed).
- Pass a 7-year background check (no felonies in the last 7 years, jail/parole/probation in the last 5, or pending charges).
- Ace a drug test and a physical capabilities test.
- No GED or diploma required—just bring strong communication skills and a can-do attitude.
Qualifications
No prior railroad experience is necessary. Previous experience in a warehouse, driving deliveries, operating a forklift, or outdoor jobs like landscaping or laboring could be a good fit.

Pay
$18.00/hr (Starting rate may be higher for candidates with prior jockey experience). Possible to earn $40,000-$55,000 in your first year (hello, overtime!). Weekly Pay: Get paid every week—no waiting around.
Schedule
Shifts include nights, weekends, and some holidays—flexibility is key! Expect 8-10 hour days in a fast-paced, outdoor setting.
