About the role
The successful candidate will have previous knowledge within a maintenance and engineering environment, be an effective communicator, and be willing to assist with additional duties as necessary. Employee performs highly skilled installation, repair, and troubleshooting work involved with mechanical and electrical assemblies.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and install equipment.
- Layout, assemble, test, and install apparatus and equipment, working from blueprints, schematics, sketches, verbal instructions, and other specifications.
- Prepare for jobs by studying assembly instructions, FMIs, blueprint specifications, parts lists, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
- Align, fit, and assemble component parts using hand tools, power tools, measuring tools, and blueprints.
- Verify specifications by measuring and testing completed components.
- Install, repair, and service specialized mechanical equipment, machinery, panels, and wiring/harnesses.
- Perform other duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED; Technical school or associated certifications preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of industrial maintenance-related experience.
- Previous Rolling Stock experience is a plus.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to work varying shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd).
- Strong skills in mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment troubleshooting.
- Strong troubleshooting and blueprint/schematics reading skills.
- Self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Safety Requirements
- Report all injuries/illnesses to supervisor the day of the incident.
- Report any unsafe conditions identified in the work area to supervisor.
- Comply with all client safety policies, procedures, and requirements, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures.
- Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as communicated and supplied.
- Keep work area clean and orderly at all times.
- Attend all client-required training before starting assigned work.
- Do not operate client equipment (forklifts, cranes, scissor lifts) until certified to do so.
