Responsibilities
- Support the design of rail infrastructure, including track and alignment, under the guidance of senior engineers
- Aid in preparing calculations, technical documentation, engineering drawings, reports, specifications, and cost estimates
- Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team to support coordinated, high-quality design deliverables
- Review design documents for consistency and coordination with supervision
- Coordinate with stakeholders, including railroads, municipalities, and other entities, with guidance from senior team members
- Participate in verbal and written communication with clients, contractors, and internal teams
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, partners, and clients
- Learn and apply technical software and design workflows to support project delivery
- Contribute to proposal preparation and supporting materials as needed
- Perform assigned design tasks with increasing independence while seeking guidance when appropriate
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related technical field from an accredited university
- 0–2 years of relevant experience in civil engineering design (rail, trackwork, or roadway design exposure preferred)
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or working toward obtaining licensure
- Familiarity with Bentley design software (OpenRail, OpenRoads, or similar) is a plus
- Basic understanding of rail alignment and/or transportation design concepts preferred
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including organization and attention to detail
- Proactive self-starter who’s also flexible and able to adapt and learn
- Confident and positive attitude
- Desire and flexibility to travel across the state a plus
- Strong written and communication skills
Qualifications
- Based on project needs, random drug testing may be required
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required for this position
