About the role

The practice of radiography is performed by health care professionals responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. A radiographer performs radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by, or at the request of, a licensed independent practitioner.

Responsibilities

  • Performs radiography procedures based on the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) “Radiography Practice Standards” and the ASRT “Code of Ethics”
  • Understands and adheres to departmental exam protocols
  • Actively participates in quality control and quality assurance activities using the “APIE” model
  • Performs venipuncture
  • Prepares, administers, and documents activities related to contrast

Requirements

  • Completion of formal Radiological Technologist training from an AMA-approved school
  • Twenty-four month clinical internship required
  • Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy certification required
  • ARRT certification required (ARRT-eligible candidates will be considered for hire with the expectation that certification will be obtained within 12 months of hire)
  • Ability to obtain BLS qualification during orientation period and maintain during employment
  • Experience with Epic preferred
