About the Role

This role involves performing diagnostic radiographic procedures, including plain films, fluoroscopy, portables, and OR exams, to support the imaging department. The technician explains procedures to patients, prepares and positions them, follows radiation safety guidelines, and ensures high-quality images are promptly submitted to PACS.

Additional duties include maintaining equipment, assisting with limited CT procedures in emergent situations, and ensuring a clean, safe environment.

Responsibilities

  • Explain radiographic procedures to patients and address their questions or concerns.
  • Transport, prepare, and position patients for imaging procedures.
  • Follow radiation safety protocols to protect patients, self, and others.
  • Administer contrast media as required for specific procedures.
  • Observe and report patient activity and condition during procedures.
  • Ensure high-quality images are captured and promptly submitted to PACS.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Perform limited emergent CT procedures when necessary.
  • Maintain a professional, safe, and orderly department environment.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Radiology Technology program.
  • ARRT-R certification within 6 months of hire.
  • BLS certification.
  • Appropriate state licensure (requirements vary by location).

Skills

  • Strong communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Attention to radiation safety and equipment monitoring.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift patients, and reach equipment.
  • Ability to handle emergent situations calmly and efficiently.

Physical Demands

  • Constant standing, walking, and moving throughout the department.
  • Frequent lifting, reaching, and patient handling.
