Job Summary
The Cardiovascular Radiologic Technologist I is a health care professional who assists in procedures on adult patients to achieve accurate diagnoses and optimal treatments for heart and peripheral vascular diseases. This role requires the use of specialized equipment and adherence to radiation safety protocols.
Job Duties
- Operates and maintains all radiographic, digital, processing, and viewing equipment to produce high-quality images and analyze coronary/peripheral anatomy.
- Applies principles of radiation safety and protection.
- Assists during diagnostic and therapeutic catheterization procedures to ensure the completeness of cases.
- Maintains a thorough understanding of all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and products to ensure their accuracy and safety.
- Reviews pre-procedural patient assessments to gather necessary information and communicate this data to the cardiologist.
- Affords assistance in educating new employees, mentoring students, and providing guidance to healthcare professionals observing in the cath lab.
- Participates in developing performance improvement activities in the cath lab, including data collection, analysis, and implementing changes to enhance best practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved accredited program of Radiologic Technology.
- Current CPR certification.
- ACLS certification (obtained within orientation period and prior to working independently).
- ARRT(R) registered.
- Kentucky KBMIRT Radiation Operator's License.
- Indiana Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) License (if working in Indiana).
- Understanding of radiation protection and sterile technique.
- Licensed RT with adequate clinical experience from an approved program.
