Provides radiology and back office support to a private practice clinic. Position may be supervised by the clinic director, member physicians, and/or office manager.

About the Role

As an integral part of the Imaging services Team, the Radiologic Technologist provides support to the Department by performing diagnostic radiology procedures in a variety of clinical settings, including ambulatory clinics and surgery centers. This position may be required to travel to other community locations as needed for patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Performs radiographic examinations and assists with fluoroscopic examinations.
  • Checks all x-rays to ensure quality standards concur with physician requirements.
  • Operates x-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body as ordered by the physician.
  • Develops film and performs quality checks on developed film to ensure adequacy of print for diagnostic purposes.
  • Performs duties of a darkroom technician as needed.
  • Manages patient support activities such as patient flow, preparation, clean up, and turn-around of examination rooms.
  • Assists physician with medical examinations and dissemination of patient education materials.
  • Positions and instructs the patient for examination. Adjusts equipment, determines proper voltage, current, and exposure time for each radiograph.
  • Cleans cassettes and screens. Maintains x-ray equipment and makes minor adjustments as required.
  • Ensures safety of self, co-workers, and patients by strict adherence to departmental safety procedures.
  • Checks and tests equipment in accordance with established safety protocols.
  • Provides back-up support to other members of the private practice as appropriate.
  • Orders supplies; utilizes and maintains equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology, either college-affiliated or hospital-trained.
  • 1 year of Radiology experience either as a Radiologic or Student Technologist.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently.
  • Comfortable with computers and medical terminology.
  • Technical skills to operate radiography equipment and computers.

Qualifications

  • Certified Radiologic Technologist (CDPH).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Radiography (ARRT) Radiography certification from ARRT (R).
  • Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit (CDPH).
  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date (required within LA City only).

Pay

The hourly rate range for this position is $40.56 - $66.50.
