About the role

The Radiology Technologist I performs routine diagnostic radiologic procedures in accordance with physician orders, departmental protocols, and established safety standards to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Operates radiographic equipment, prepares and positions patients for imaging procedures, and ensures high-quality diagnostic images while maintaining patient safety and comfort. Provides age-appropriate care to patients across the lifespan and adheres to all regulatory, accreditation, and infection prevention requirements. Assists with the clinical training, orientation, and evaluation of radiology students, serving as a resource and role model to support their educational development and competency achievement.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine diagnostic radiologic procedures following physician orders and departmental protocols.
  • Operate radiographic equipment and ensure high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Prepare and position patients for imaging procedures while maintaining patient safety and comfort.
  • Provide age-appropriate care to patients across the lifespan.
  • Adhere to regulatory, accreditation, and infection prevention requirements.
  • Assist with clinical training, orientation, and evaluation of radiology students.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to call-back requirements as needed.
  • Perform portable radiographic procedures and operate C-arm fluoroscopic equipment in the operating room and other patient care areas.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of radiation safety principles and infection prevention practices.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians, students, and other healthcare team members.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Registry eligible upon hire.
  • Current Mississippi Medical Radiation Technologist License required.
  • Current certification and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or registry eligible.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification required.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment and initiative.
  • Available to participate in on-call rotation and respond to call-back requirements.
  • Ability to perform portable radiographic procedures and operate C-arm fluoroscopic equipment.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout the workday.
  • Frequent lifting, transferring, repositioning, and assisting patients.
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, and maneuvering of portable radiographic equipment.
  • Ability to assist patients on and off examination tables, wheelchairs, and stretchers.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, and twisting.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate imaging equipment, computer systems, and related devices.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of equipment, supplies, and accessories.

Background check and drug screen required.
