Job Summary

As an Imaging Student Extern, you will build valuable hands-on experience by learning from experienced team members who are committed to your growth. You’ll be a valued, respected part of the team, contributing your insights and helping deliver care that keeps patients comfortable and confident throughout their imaging experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform procedures in accordance with established protocols for patients of all ages under the supervision of the radiologist, supervisor, and a registered technologist.
  • Maintain expert technical and patient-care skills and provide quality diagnostic results.
  • Utilize radiation protection for patients and employees.
  • Administer contrast media and prepare sterile trays or fields.
  • Assist patients and physicians as directed.
  • Prepare, process, and document information to complete exams.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, setting up imaging rooms, managing turnover, and organizing supplies to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient environment.
  • Transport patients safely between areas, supporting their comfort and emotional needs during procedures.
  • Communicate needs and concerns promptly to the care team.
  • Participate in learning opportunities and follow safety and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

  • ARRT eligible or in an accredited radiology program.
  • Current BLS from AHA or ARC.
  • Currently enrolled in a Radiologic Technology program.
  • In senior year of Radiologic Technology program.
  • Familiar with the majority of diagnostic radiology procedures.
  • High degree of manual skills and dexterity necessary for operation of equipment and patient care.
  • Capable of applying technical skills to all age patients.
