Radiology Authorization Coordinator

Job Summary

University Radiology, a leading provider of subspecialty radiology and teleradiology services in New Jersey, is seeking a Full-time Pre-Authorization Coordinator for its East Brunswick, NJ Business Office. The position works Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Responsibilities

• Work with referring physicians to ensure authorizations for a patient’s procedure are obtained before their appointment.
• Inform patients of any instructions for the procedure, including documentation required on the day of the exam.
• Discuss financial responsibility with patients and set up payment plans.
• Communicate any challenges, their potential impact on the department, and possible solutions to the management team.
• Utilize registration system notes to document important information related to verification, pre-cert, and upfront collection.
• Follow University Radiology’s guidelines related to HIPAA to prevent unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Work in a high-call volume environment, understanding the Revenue Cycle and the impact of Pre-registration.
• Knowledge of CPT/ICD9/ICD10 codes and insurance contracts/reimbursement is required.
• Show strong communication and organizational skills, contributing to a professional and positive work environment.
• Be effective at meetings, providing feedback, ideas, and suggestions to improve daily work flows.

Requirements

• 1+ years of insurance verification experience.
