Radiology Assistant
About the role
The Student Radiology Assistant performs a wide variety of routine duties including clerical, technical and patient related functions. This position is responsible for assisting members of the patient care team, and providing a wide range of health care services such as: patient check in, exam review, preparation for visit, patient education, assistance with exams and procedures, and patient transporting.
Responsibilities
- Aid with imaging and invasive procedures
- Perform clerical duties including recordkeeping
- Maintain high quality services
- Communicate effectively with patients/families and all care providers
- Exhibit a caring attitude
- Interact with staff and co-workers in a manner that promotes positive working relationships
- Check the order for complete information and appropriateness criteria
- Adhere to established section and organizational protocols, Quality Control, Quality Assurance Guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Set up the imaging room to coincide with the examination being performed to include the use of proper isolation precautions, as needed
- Provide quality customer service, explain all studies to a patient in a clear manner, and provide information and resources to patient and family
- Safely transfer patient to and from carts, beds, wheelchairs utilizing lifting devices if necessary
- Position patient ensuring patient comfort and modesty
- Engage in professional and ethical conduct
- Adhere to proper cleaning and infection control guidelines
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Graduate or a current student in an accredited Sonography or Radiology program
- The candidate shall provide a letter signed by their program director indicating the anticipated date of graduation or successful completion of the program
- LHM, in its discretion, may request from you or others information concerning matters that may be relevant to your eligibility for certification and certification status
- LHM is accredited by DNV and TJC, and as such, may require specific annual education related to specialty certifications and standards
