Job Summary

The Radiology Aide/Secretary is responsible for receiving patients and processing patient records for the Diagnostic Imaging department.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and places orders for testing into the computer system if necessary.
  • Transports patients to dressing area if needed and contacts appropriate departments when patient has arrived.
  • Captures patient arrival for X-ray, Bone density, Mammography, and Ultrasound, transporting patients to and from the department as needed.
  • Uploads/downloads imaging CDs upon request and works with HIS to ensure patient results are distributed appropriately.
  • Distributes reports to physician offices and other medical facilities upon request and in the manner requested (fax, mail, courier).
  • Provides CDs with imaging for patients when requested.
  • Retrieves prior mammogram images for comparison; uploading external prior images.
  • Transmits results to Hologic or power share for emergent communication to hospital/facility.
  • Stocks and organizes dressing rooms for patients.
  • Affords assistance to technologists with patient movement when required.
  • Promotes same-day, walk-in mammography appointments.
  • Communicates same-day open appointment slots to providers in the building.
  • Schedules and registers daily add-on patients from internal referrals.
  • Performs appointment reminder calls to reduce no-shows.
  • Schedules and reschedules patients.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School or GED Required.
  • Experience working with patients in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Computer skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, and handle sensitive patient information in a professional manner.
  • Capable of accurately maintaining patient records.
  • Can follow patient transport procedures and safety practices.
  • Good customer service and interpersonal skills.
