Major Duties
- Maintains the care and safety of patients undergoing transportation, treatment.
- Uses equipment correctly to minimize hazards of electrical shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.
- Demonstrates care and use of supplies and equipment.
- Instructs and/or assists patients in proper gowning and prepares for radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations.
- Determines most suitable anatomical posture or position of the patient.
- Promotes medical and surgical aseptic procedures.
- Interacts professionally and supportively with patients and/or families, providing an explanation of the procedures being conducted.
- Shows initiative in duties performed and is prompt in carrying out orders for tests and procedures.
- Instructs nursing personnel on the proper preparation for the radiological procedure.
- Shows proficiency in all routine examinations.
- Keeps current with advances and changes in the field of Radiology.
- Accurately obtains mandatory information such as a signed consent form, pregnancy information, iodine sensitivity, renal function, patient history, etc., which may have an impact on the current examination.
- Properly marks, labels, and prepares images for Radiologists.
Qualifications
- Must be a graduate of an accredited program in radiologic technology and possess a valid license or be a Licensed Radiologic Technologist from the Kansas Board of Healing Arts.
- Must be BLS certified.
- Experience preferred but not required.
Physical Demands
- Normal eyesight, with or without corrective lenses.
- Normal hearing, with or without hearing aids.
- Motor coordination and manual dexterity.
- The ability to bend, stoop, crawl, and kneel.
- The ability to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.
Work Environment
- Well-lit work area.
- Working under stressful conditions emergency situations.
- Working irregular hours including after hours and on call.
- May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases.
- Exposed to offensive odors and hazards of explosive gasses.
- Exposed to a variety of electro-mechanical hazards.
- Work with people under all conditions.
