Major Duties

  • Maintains the care and safety of patients undergoing transportation, treatment.
  • Uses equipment correctly to minimize hazards of electrical shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.
  • Demonstrates care and use of supplies and equipment.
  • Instructs and/or assists patients in proper gowning and prepares for radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations.
  • Determines most suitable anatomical posture or position of the patient.
  • Promotes medical and surgical aseptic procedures.
  • Interacts professionally and supportively with patients and/or families, providing an explanation of the procedures being conducted.
  • Shows initiative in duties performed and is prompt in carrying out orders for tests and procedures.
  • Instructs nursing personnel on the proper preparation for the radiological procedure.
  • Shows proficiency in all routine examinations.
  • Keeps current with advances and changes in the field of Radiology.
  • Accurately obtains mandatory information such as a signed consent form, pregnancy information, iodine sensitivity, renal function, patient history, etc., which may have an impact on the current examination.
  • Properly marks, labels, and prepares images for Radiologists.

Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited program in radiologic technology and possess a valid license or be a Licensed Radiologic Technologist from the Kansas Board of Healing Arts.
  • Must be BLS certified.
  • Experience preferred but not required.

Physical Demands

  • Normal eyesight, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Normal hearing, with or without hearing aids.
  • Motor coordination and manual dexterity.
  • The ability to bend, stoop, crawl, and kneel.
  • The ability to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.

Work Environment

  • Well-lit work area.
  • Working under stressful conditions emergency situations.
  • Working irregular hours including after hours and on call.
  • May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases.
  • Exposed to offensive odors and hazards of explosive gasses.
  • Exposed to a variety of electro-mechanical hazards.
  • Work with people under all conditions.
