JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for performing imaging procedures using X-ray equipment to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients. Ensures high quality imaging, adheres to safety standards, and delivers compassionate care to a diverse patient population.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education and Training: Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology or related field. Active license as a Radiologic Technologist in the State of Louisiana is required. Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Work Experience: One (1) year of experience in a hospital or clinical setting is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Strong knowledge of radiographic positioning and anatomy
- Ability to remain calm and focused in high-stress or trauma situations
- Capable of troubleshooting, calibrating, and maintaining imaging equipment
- Sensitivity to patients needs, fears, and concerns during procedures
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and patient care skills
- Commitment to teamwork, professionalism, and continuous learning
- Familiar with electronic medical records (EMR)
- Analyzing information, critical thinking, and problem solving
- Maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism at all times
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent movement between exam rooms, imaging areas, and patient units
- Frequently lift, move, or assist patients weighing up to 200+ pounds with proper body mechanics or lift equipment
- Regularly lift or carry equipment or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to push and/or pull mobile x-ray machines, patient beds, stretchers, or wheelchairs
- Assist in positioning patients or moving heavy imaging equipment
- Ability to position self to position patients or adjust equipment at low angles
- Fine motor skills needed to operate controls, manipulate imaging equipment, and work with smalls tools
- Precise hand-eye coordination for accurate positioning and equipment handling
- Ability to observe details at close range such as patient ID bands and imaging screens
- Sufficient hearing to respond to alarms, patient needs, and communication from staff
- Ability to remain in a stationary period for extended periods of time
- Constantly operates a computer, office, and patient care machinery
- Potential exposure to radiation and infectious materials (PPE and safety measures required)
- Tolerance for working in low-light or darkroom conditions
OSHA EXPOSURE CATEGORY
Has exposure to blood borne pathogens.
