About the role

This position is covered by the collective bargaining agreement between Cook County and the SEIU Union. Cook County will exhaust internal eligible applicants prior to considering external applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Affirms requisition for appropriateness and changes orders based on actual exam performed.
  • Verifies patient's name and ID bracelet.
  • Explains the procedure(s) to the patient.
  • Takes radiographs as assigned following prescribed techniques and procedures.
  • Administers contrast agent to patients.
  • Assists and transfers patient to table, positions patient, and assists at the end of the procedure.
  • Follows prescribed techniques in administering x-rays, adjusts equipment, arranges immobilization and support devices, and selects proper film.
  • Observes patient and machine during procedure and reports unusual occurrences.
  • Sends images to PAC's system, enters patient information, and tracks exams to completion.
  • Performs quality control activities to ensure optimal quality radiographs.
  • Performs mobile x-ray in various areas including patient's room, emergency rooms, trauma unit, and operating room.
  • Reports equipment problems to supervisor immediately.
  • Prepares and maintains radiological records, files, and technical work sheets.
  • Orders and stocks supplies as required.
  • Cleans and disinfects x-ray room and equipment after each patient.
  • Fulfills infection control and safety guidelines.
  • May instruct students and auxiliary personnel in radiologic policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a two-year program of Radiologic Technology.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA).
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

Qualifications

  • One (1) year of clinical or work experience (within the last 2 years) in general radiology.
  • Thorough knowledge of anatomical positioning and basic body physiology related to developmental factors and the aging process.
  • Knowledge of basic principles of electricity as applied to radiography.
  • Basic knowledge of infection control and safety policies.
  • Skilled in the operation of stationary and portable radiologic equipment.
  • Demonstrates continuing education and provides documentation to the department.

  • Ability to stand, pull, reach, and bend.
  • Ability to use both hands.

Pay

Salary range: $32.051 - $38.620 hourly
Salary is commensurate with years of experience indicated at time of application submittal.

Schedule

Shift: 8:00 AM-4:00 PM | Weekend Rotation
