About the role
The Radiologic Technologist produces high-quality radiographic images under the guidance of the Radiology Supervisor, adhering to safe techniques and standard precautions. This role also participates in Quality Improvement and Quality Control activities.
Responsibilities
- Performs diagnostic radiographic examinations following department protocol, including head and neck studies, chest studies, spine and pelvis, upper extremity, lower extremity, abdomen, and pediatric studies.
- Produces copies of radiographic images as needed.
- Follows radiation safety procedures, keeping exposure As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).
- Appropriately utilizes shields to reduce patient exposure.
- Sets technical factors to minimize patient exposure while producing high-quality images.
- Uses sterile technique when required and follows standard precautions.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills to communicate effectively with all age groups served.
- Prepares patients for exams by explaining procedures in a kind, respectful manner; utilizes interpreters as needed.
- Recognizes age-related pathology and physical presentation when performing exams and selecting technical factors.
Requirements
- Graduate of an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology Training Program.
- Associate Degree strongly desired.
- Clinical hours sufficient to sit for the ARRT Examination.
- Licensed by the state of Massachusetts in Radiography.
- CPR Certified, with ability to maintain certification annually.
- 1–3 years’ experience in a high-volume environment performing diagnostic radiographic examinations.
- Good working knowledge in the field of Radiology.
