Essential Functions
- Prepares patients for radiologic procedures.
- Takes x-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
- Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials.
- Safeguards equipment by ensuring it is in working order and reporting malfunctions to supervisor.
- Processes routine paperwork.
- Maintains x-ray room and stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
- Processes radiologic film.
- Attends required staff and educational meetings.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Affords assistance to patients and handles some calls for physicians.
- Assists doctors with patients.
- Shuts down equipment and x-ray room at close of the day.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Skills/Abilities
- Knowledge of performing x-rays and other tests associated with the radiology department.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Compliance with proper documentation guidelines according to x-ray protocols and legal requirements.
- Adherence to dress code.
- Medical record maintenance, including securing information in the chart, placing dividers if applicable, and proper chart order.
- Knowledge of handling equipment and transferring patients.
Mental/Physical Requirements
- Standing for 4-6 hours per day.
- Walking, stooping, and bending.
- Occasional stress from working with tense patients.
