Essential Functions

  • Prepares patients for radiologic procedures.
  • Takes x-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
  • Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials.
  • Safeguards equipment by ensuring it is in working order and reporting malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Processes routine paperwork.
  • Maintains x-ray room and stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
  • Processes radiologic film.
  • Attends required staff and educational meetings.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Affords assistance to patients and handles some calls for physicians.
  • Assists doctors with patients.
  • Shuts down equipment and x-ray room at close of the day.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of performing x-rays and other tests associated with the radiology department.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Compliance with proper documentation guidelines according to x-ray protocols and legal requirements.
  • Adherence to dress code.
  • Medical record maintenance, including securing information in the chart, placing dividers if applicable, and proper chart order.
  • Knowledge of handling equipment and transferring patients.

Mental/Physical Requirements

  • Standing for 4-6 hours per day.
  • Walking, stooping, and bending.
  • Occasional stress from working with tense patients.
