About the role

This position involves performing routine and highly specialized diagnostic and therapeutic interventional radiology procedures under the supervision of physicians. The interventional technologist plays multiple roles during procedures, including scrubbing in, assisting the physician, circulating within the procedure room, and ensuring patient safety.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of radiology principles and practices, including anatomy and physiology, radiation protection and physics, radiographic positioning, surgical and nursing procedures.
  • Operate all radiographic/fluoroscopic, interventional radiology, and associated surgical, and image processing equipment.
  • Provide care appropriate to the age of patients served, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development over the life span.
  • Use computer systems to manage patient information and communicate effectively with patients and staff.
  • Maintain equipment, supplies, and work area in accordance with department guidelines and ensure compliance with organizational, regional, and medical service area policies.
  • Rotate standby at Ontario and may be scheduled shifts in all areas of the SBC service area.

Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) years of recent experience (within the last 12 months) as a Radiologic Technologist, including one (1) year of recent experience in Interventional Radiology (IR).
  • Valid advanced certification in Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology (CV), Vascular Interventional Radiology (VI), or Cardiac Interventional Radiology (CI), issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred.

Qualifications

  • Ability to operate all radiographic/fluoroscopic, interventional radiology, and associated surgical, and image processing equipment.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and ability to assess data reflective of the patients requirements relative to age-specific needs.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional behavior in all interactions with patients and staff.
  • Maintain equipment, supplies, and work area in accordance with department guidelines.
