This position in the Radiology department performs diagnostic procedures as ordered by physicians, adapting routine procedures as necessary for patients of all ages including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic procedures as ordered by physicians, adapting routine procedures for patients of all ages.
  • Uses organizational skills to multi-task, scheduling patients efficiently to maximize throughput and minimize wait times.
  • Meets patients’ physical and emotional needs during procedures, explaining processes and obtaining consent while respecting cultural, gender, and age differences.
  • Correctly performs exams following established protocols while adapting for patient age, condition, or anatomy.
  • Utilizes and maintains medical equipment and accessories safely, reporting issues promptly and following sanitation guidelines.
  • Verifies patient identity, medical charts, and exam requests to ensure accuracy.
  • Reviews physician orders for medical necessity and clinical indications.
  • Assists physicians with invasive procedures, setting up sterile supplies and maintaining sterile fields.
  • Completes biopsy/procedure paperwork, labels and processes patient specimens accurately.
  • Maintains a clean and stocked work area, preparing rooms for the next shift or exam.
  • Flexes hours to accommodate departmental or staff needs.
  • Supervises and mentors students in clinical settings, providing feedback and grading clinical exams.
  • Uses information systems (HIS, RIS, PACS) to record and distribute patient care data accurately.
  • Complies with institutional and departmental policies, including safety and infection control guidelines.
  • Attends in-services and departmental meetings, assists in training new personnel, and seeks further education.
  • Performs other duties as requested by management.

Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of an AMA-accredited Radiology Technology program.
  • ARRT (R) Registered or registry eligible; registry required within 6 months of hire.
  • Winchester Medical Center Medical Radiography program students who have completed 18 months of training may be considered eligible.
  • BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association (AHA) ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) required prior to completion of orientation.
  • Competence in performing examinations and procedures on patients of all ages, including neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

Pay

$29.37 - $44.04 per hour.
