About the role
Virginia Western Community College is seeking a 9-month Radiography faculty member to begin in the Fall 2026 semester. The position will focus on teaching Radiation Science courses and other related courses, with a primary emphasis on clinical coordination as outlined by JRCERT Standards.
Responsibilities
- Teach college-level Radiography courses, typically 15 credits per semester totaling around 30 credits per academic year.
- Teach both face-to-face and hybrid/distance learning courses during weekdays and weekends.
- Advise students and participate in college committees and other activities supporting the college's mission.
- Conduct a 15-minute teaching session on a pre-selected topic during the interview process.
- Perform summer teaching and clinical coordination duties, with varying hours each year.
- May assist the agency or state government in emergencies.
Requirements
- Associate degree required, with a bachelor’s degree in progress with completion anticipated within 24 months of hire.
- Experience in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising.
- Two years of current clinical experience in diagnostic imaging.
- One year of experience as an instructor in a JRCERT-accredited program.
- Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and registration, or equivalent, in radiography.
- Current, unrestricted Virginia state R.T. (R) license or be license eligible.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Radiography or a Health-related field preferred.
- Master’s degree in a Health-related field preferred.
- Student-focused experience teaching in a community college setting preferred.
- Experience using classroom technology such as Canvas, Panopto, PowerPoint, etc., preferred.
- Experience providing student instruction in the classroom, lab, and clinical settings preferred.
Skills
- Ability to operate a state vehicle.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $70,541 - $122,936, with pay and benefits spread across 12 months starting in Fall 2026.
Schedule
The schedule is flexible based on the academic calendar, with summer hours being part-time and varying each year.
