About the role
To produce radiographs to customer and PCC specifications for evaluation of castings.
Responsibilities
- Setup Objective: accurately set up castings for radiography – check routing/requests to determine x‑ray needs, review Technique Cards for setup requirements (x‑ray techniques, part positions, Film/IP requirements), set up additional radiographs of defect areas not covered by Technique Cards, inspect and maintain Film/IP and cassettes, follow proper handling techniques, set up castings on x‑ray tables (fixturing, placement of Film/IP, DICOM tag identification, penetrameters), set exposure parameters, determine priority of radiographs, develop best‑practice setup requirements for newly developed techniques, visually inspect castings for dirt, penetrant, grinding debris, etc.
- X‑Ray Operation Objective: operate x‑ray machines to produce radiographs within specifications – operate control panels, adjust tube height, voltage, exposure times, monitor/maintain/generate exposures for system qualifications per customer and PCC specs, conduct multiple radiographic examinations concurrently, operate all machines, remove Film/IP for image processing while maintaining handling, after processing check samples for artifacts, clarity, coverage, pixel value, sensitivity, make changes within specs, record changes, reshoot when needed, willingness to be audited without notice by PCC internal/external auditors (PCC NDTE, NADCAP, ISO 9000, etc.), train, mentor, assist less skilled radiographers, complete logs and records, record modifications to Technique Card specifications, meet production and quality standards.
