Radio-Frequency Engineer
Location: Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek Fort Story, Virginia Beach (onsite only). Full-time salaried exempt contractor position supporting the US Navy’s Shipboard Electronic Systems Evaluation Facility (SESEF), part of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). SESEF provides electromagnetic test and evaluation services for afloat and shore commands, validating system performance and assessing materiel readiness. This role is based at our Virginia Beach facility, which serves the US Navy, Coast Guard, Military Sealift Command, and allied foreign navies.
About the Role
The position supports US Navy and DoD engineering teams by providing real-time comparative signal generation and analysis in operational environments. Key objectives include the design, integration, installation, and testing of shipboard warfare systems via over-the-air electromagnetic testing, covering antenna radiation patterns, communication systems, data links, electronic warfare, radio direction finding, and radars. The program supports Fleet forces at US and international homeports, mobile test platforms, shipyard installations, and Coast Guard units.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop RF/microwave/communication systems.
- Conduct test, evaluation, and data analysis of communications, electronic warfare, radar, SIGINT, and other electronic systems.
- Support cradle-to-grave development of new RF systems, including design, test, evaluation, integration, and production.
- Organize and conduct field surveys for testing instrumentation, equipment installations, technical surveillance, audits, and assessments.
- Develop sustainment plans and test procedures for incorporation into user manuals.
- Participate in small-team projects related to new product development.
Requirements
- US citizenship and ability to obtain a US government security clearance.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Five or more years of experience in electronics, RF engineering, communication systems, or digital signal processing.
- Understanding of RF test equipment (signal analyzers, generators, oscilloscopes, RF power meters, etc.).
- Experience installing or maintaining waveguide, low-loss coax cables, and antennas.
- Exposure to design, repair, and analysis of electronic systems.
- Exposure to C++ and Java software development.
- Ability to travel periodically to other test facilities across the US and overseas.
- Ability to obtain a US passport.

Pay
Salary commensurate with experience, training, and education, ranging from $80,000 to $110,000+.
