About the role

Competently performs routine and specialized radiation treatments in accordance with the treatment plan developed by the physician. Works independently, exercising sound judgment, and developed clinical skills to execute safe and precise procedures to deliver accurate results in a timely manner. Gains confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring, and effective communication. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care. May also be responsible for performing specific procedures and/or orienting other staff to the department.

This position requires travel and coverage between the Sunnyvale and Palo Alto PAMF locations, as needed.

Schedule

• Varied 8-hour day shifts that may fall between clinic hours of 7:30 am and 5 pm
• Full time (40 hours per week)
• Monday - Friday
• No weekend requirements

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized radiation treatments according to physician-developed plans
• Assess and monitor patients competently to ensure safe and precise procedures
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers
• Adhere to all regulations, policies, and procedures for patient privacy and safety
• Perform specific procedures and/or orient other staff as needed
• Prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures
• Work independently and collaboratively in a team environment with interruptions
• Identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems using established solutions
• Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI)
• Build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Radiation Therapy Program
• Certification & Licensure:
  • ARRT - Radiography (American Register of Radiologic Technologists)
  • RHTT - Therapeutic Radiologic Technology by the Radiologic Health Branch or RHA - Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiologic Technology by the Radiologic Health Branch
  • BLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
• 2 years of recent relevant experience

Skills & Knowledge

• General knowledge of radiation therapy principles, procedures, views, and equipment, including experience responding to traumas and hospital emergencies
• Capable of performing routine radiation treatment and simulations
• Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
• Written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences
• Well-developed time management and organizational skills
• Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and related information systems (Radiology (RIS), laboratory (LIS), electronic health records (EHR), EPIC, and picture archive and communication system (PACS))

Pay

Pay range is $78.08 to $109.30 per hour. The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
