About the Role
Works under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist, performing responsibilities associated with the localization of tumors and the administration of radiation therapy. Possesses knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures involved with the operation of ionizing radiographic and radiation therapy equipment, human anatomy, and proper patient positioning to provide radiation therapy treatment. Performs CT Simulations as instructed by the radiation oncologist, ensures patient safety, and adheres to departmental policies and procedures. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities while maintaining patient workflow and problem-solving treatment issues.
Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed doses of radiation therapy under the direction of a radiation oncologist, following regulatory standards and hospital policies.
- Position patients accurately for radiation therapy treatments using image guidance.
- Simulate patients under the guidance of a radiation oncologist and create custom immobilization devices.
- Perform daily quality assurance checks on linear accelerators and CT/simulation equipment.
- Verify all treatment information and quality assurance checks before starting radiation therapy.
- Train and supervise students during clinical rotations or shadow programs; orient and mentor new radiation therapists.
- Act as a consistent team member, prioritizing patient care and maintaining seamless efficiency in rotations.
- Communicate effectively with Radiation Oncologists, Dosimetrists, Physicists, and the support team.
- Adhere to punch in/punch out policies and ensure PEAR reports for missed punches are signed by the supervisor.
- Correctly identify patients in ARIA and accurately deliver treatment to the correct patient and area.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and protect operations by keeping information secure.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited School of Radiation Therapy Technology (required).
- Bachelor of Science in Radiation or AAS degree in Radiation Therapy (preferred).
Qualifications
- Current NYS Licensure registration in Radiologic Technology (Radiation Therapy).
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
- Current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.

Pay
$40 - $61 per hour
Schedule
- Day shift.
- 8-hour workdays.
