Position Purpose
This position administers the prescribed therapeutic radiation dose to a predetermined treatment area for patients. The incumbent is also accountable for the localization procedures necessary for preparing the patients for radiation treatments. The incumbent provides support, education and teaching to cancer patients and their families and are also required to assist in onboarding new team members and educate students.
Nature and Scope
- Evaluate and prioritize job tasks.
- Provide care based on physical, motor/sensory, psychosocial, and safety needs of patients.
- Evaluate and implement care plans for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and families.
- Maintain quality standards as measured by unit/department age-specific competency standards.
- Evaluate and prioritize tasks to ensure accuracy.
- Operate linear accelerators and simulators.
- Operate electronic health records and record and verify system and other software programs within the department.
- Perform skin instruction, phone, and EMR skills.
- Demonstrate proficiency in body mechanics, fire safety, infection control, patient safety, and CPR.
- Demonstrate proficiency in annual core competencies and Development Ladder Skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Graduation from an accredited Radiation Therapy Program is required.
- Licenses: State of Nevada license in Radiation Therapy is required upon hire.
- Certifications: AHA BLS and ARRT certifications are required upon hire.
- Computers/Typing: Possess or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
