Radiation Therapist

Responsibilities

• Position the patient and deliver ionizing radiation in accordance with the prescription and instructions from the radiation oncologist.
• Provide specific care to patients during treatment and educate them regarding procedures as well as how to deal with radiation reactions.
• Produce an external beam treatment plan for each patient, with alternatives if necessary, using a treatment planning computer.
• Observe radiation safety measures for patients, personnel, and visitors.
• Deliver the treatment and promptly and accurately document the treatment and any notes into the electronic medical record.

Qualifications

• Must hold or obtain current licensure with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with (T) credential.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• Comprehension of standard radiation therapy techniques; principles of radiation physics.
• Must be able to utilize Word, Excel, Outlook, and electronic medical record software.
