About the role
Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Radiation Therapist to join our team.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs daily quality assurance activities on radiation producing equipment. Records results and reports equipment malfunctions to the appropriate staff.
- Fabricates patient immobilization and beam altering devices to include Cerrobend blocks and vacuum bags.
- Performs simulation procedures to satisfy topographic/radiographic identification of treatment area and obtains accurate and appropriate data to complete Dosimetric calculation.
- Accurately positions patient and sets all treatment parameters to satisfy the treatment prescription.
- Assists with Dosimetric calculations and data entry when required.
- Processes and labels imaging studies.
- Documents procedures in the medical record.
- Practices center-wide and department radiation safety policies and procedures within the As Low As Reasonably Achievable principle.
- Maintains a safe, neat, orderly and supplied work area.
- Participates in the educational program, completes annual educational requirements, and attends in-service meetings as required.
- Attends all other meetings as required.
Qualifications
- Must hold or obtain current licensure as an RTT with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.
- Must hold or obtain current BLS.
- Comprehension of standard radiation therapy techniques; principles of radiation physics.
- Must understand linear accelerator operations and electronic record and verify.
- Writing/editing English skills necessary to produce appropriate documentation and communications.
- Must be able to professionally interact with customer patients, families and other staff.
- Must be able to accurately calculate chart doses, hand calculations for therapy and prescription protocols.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Must be able to work well in small teams to accomplish departmental goals.
- Must be able to take verbal instruction and practically apply it without direct supervision.
