Radiation Therapist
Job Summary
The Radiation Therapist is responsible for providing safe, accurate and timely radiation and simulation services to neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients in compliance with the standards set forth by JCAHO, The American Registry of Radiological Technologists and The State of Texas Department of Health. A thorough understanding of radiation and radiation safety is essential to provide optimal services. The Radiation Therapist will work closely with other Radiation Therapists, Dosimetrist, Medical Physicist and Radiation Oncologist.
Qualifications
- Registered Radiographer (ARRT) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Radiation Therapy License required
- Bachelor's Degree
- Basic Cardiac Life Support
What You Will Do in This Role
Administers radiation treatments in a safe and timely manner; provides accurate patient treatment using following established guidelines. Performs patient set ups; completes documentation on all patients according to department policy and procedure. Consistently utilizes equipment safely and effectively in providing patient care. Assists physician with treatments, simulations and follow up procedures
Performs simulations and brachytherpay procedures as directed by physician; is knowledgeable regarding procedures used for simulation of patients. Records all simulation data as required to provide for necessary calculations; demonstrates the ability to perform simulator quality assurance (QA) procedures. Constructs treatment and immobilization devices when appropriate. Demonstrates the ability to perform simulations on Philips CT Big Bore Scanner and document all data as required. Demonstrates basic dose calculation knowledge. Demonstrates willingness and ability to perform other duties as designated by Director
