We are hiring a Radiation Therapist for our Charleston, WV facility. This is a full‑time position in a city that offers small‑city charm with outdoor adventure, local restaurants, live music, hiking, rafting, and more.
Responsibilities
- Deliver radiation treatment according to the written prescription and treatment plan, under the guidance of an RT, Senior RT, or Lead RT.
- Ensure patient safety by consistently following departmental procedures for treatment administration.
- Identify the correct patient, escort them to the treatment room, assist onto the treatment table, position the patient, deliver radiation from the control room, and assist the patient in exiting the room.
- Provide a caring, supportive environment for patients, visitors, medical staff, and co‑workers.
- Document treatment records completely and accurately to assure quality of delivery.
- Recognize and report any deviation from the prescribed treatment to the RT mentor, Lead Therapist, and/or Physicist.
- Use effective communication techniques to explain treatment‑related procedures to patients and families, refer medical questions to appropriate personnel, and respond to patient concerns.
- Observe patients for expected and unexpected reactions, communicate findings to staff, reinforce patient education/side‑effect management, and indicate non‑compliance to medical/nursing staff.
- Observe and learn patient simulations as requested by physicians, collect and document simulation data, and accurately input treatment‑related data into the EMR.
- Make patient‑centric recommendations to the appropriate clinical team member.
- Assist with all treatment‑related procedures, including transporting patients, reviewing charts, and ordering supplies.
- Recognize standard imaging/ARGT and make necessary adjustments to ensure high‑quality treatment.
- Perform and document daily and weekly QA checklists; notify and document findings that fall outside normal operational ranges.
- Participate in programs that measure and improve the quality of care within the department.
- Capture and verify patient treatment charges.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree or Certificate from a college or technical school.
- ARRT(T) certification required or in process; if not currently registered, a temporary state license is acceptable provided ARRT certification is obtained within one year of hire or title change.
- CPR certification required.
- COVID‑19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.
- Successful completion of a pre‑employment background check and drug screen is required.
Preferred Experience
- 3 years of radiation therapy experience.
- Students and new graduates are welcomed to apply.
