Mission

Quantum is someone to assist the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) with routine radiological surveys to support Nuclear Regulatory compliance, open and close X-ray operations, waste classification and accountability, leak test compliance and precise measurement and calculation of ionizing radiation doses absorbed by human tissue or materials storage issue(s) and assignment(s).

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on, in-field presence and real-time industrial radiological evaluation and safety recommendations at various test ranges, demonstrations and training sessions.
  • Operate nuclear counting and analysis equipment, interpret and properly respond to regulatory requirements of spectroscopy results.
  • Recognize and informally classify the various types of radiological material.

Requirements

  • Possess high radiological protection technological skills as demonstrated by technical school practical demonstration, laboratory and/or job performance.
  • Ability to operate nuclear counting and analysis equipment, interpret and properly respond to regulatory requirements of spectroscopy results.
  • Understanding of the natural laws of ionizing radiation, the mechanism of radiation damage, methods of detection, and hazards assessment.
  • At a minimum should have six (6) or more years of general experience integrating equipment and software for operational, testing, or demonstration purposes and analyzing systems and technologies related to one or more of the task order designated disciplines and a high school diploma or GED.
  • Experience should demonstrate the ability to meet the duties described above.
  • A bachelor’s degree and four (4) years’ experience or a master’s degree and two (2) years’ experience combined with the task order related experience may be used in lieu of the above stated experience requirements.
