About the role
Ensures quality of care and adequate protection of patients and staff in the use of imaging equipment and other radiation-producing sources. Assists in maintaining proper calibration of equipment.
Responsibilities
- Ensures careful and quality use of radiation-producing sources and imaging equipment.
- Protects patients and staff from radiation.
- Calibrates all radiation therapy equipment.
- Participates in the research and development of new therapy modalities.
- Responsible for the implementation of the Quality Assurance program and ensures compliance with regulations of all governing agencies.
- Conducts equipment performance reviews as needed.
- Implements quality control procedures for imaging devices.
- Recommends radiation safety procedures to areas using radiation.
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Current license and certification to practice as a Medical Physicist in NYS, required.
- Licenses and certifications must be in speciality area appropriate to area of assignment.
- Plus specialized certifications as needed.
- 1-3 Years Of Relevant Experience, Required.
